I have lived and worked with dogs and other animals since before I can remember. I always felt a sort of kinship with animals of all kinds. I grew up in a rural community with a focus on animals and agriculture in the United States, and I learned a profound respect for animals and life in general.
I worked with Children and Families in stressful and disasterous situations for two and a half years offering counselling and methods of reframing or altering damaging behaviours. One day Chanone approached me in regards to a dog that was exhibiting behaviours of a trauma victim and we sat for a couple hours discussing the psychological aspects of what we could do for this dog.
We both began to regularly 'talk shop' about our clients finding that a technique for helping people could easily be adapted to helping a dog in distress. I had even found ways of helping shape behaviours for people from observing how the techniques worked on dogs. As time moved on I found myself working more and more with dogs and Chanone in an effort to help the families of our clients become more healthy and happy.
